Rev. Roy Craft, wift, Shirli Jean and daughter, Jenica came to serve the First United Pentecostal Church in August 1981. Brother Craft was at a conference when he felt a burden for Hattiesburg. He learned shortly thereafter that the pastorate was open and he and Sister Craft were elected pastor.
Brother and Sister Craft were married at the First United Pentecostal Church of Hattiesburg in October 1975. Brother Craft was well acquainted with the church family since he grew up at the church. He attended the Taberacle of Seminary pastored by Brother Billy Burrell while he evangelized prior to coming to Hattiesburg.
Shortly after the Crafts came to Hattiesburg their second daughter, Jacia, was born. Two years later tragedy struck and Jacia was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away in 1983.
